How to export a Gemini chat

Gemini has a built-in export to Google Docs, but it works on one response at a time. Here are the ways to save a whole conversation.

Export a Gemini conversation

Export one response to Docs. Under a Gemini response, open the Share and export menu and choose Export to Docs. Gemini creates a Google Doc in your Drive with that response.
Share a link. The share option creates a link to the conversation. Anyone with the link can view it, so avoid it for private chats.
Save the page as a PDF. Press Ctrl+P (Cmd+P on Mac) and choose Save as PDF. Scroll to the top of a long chat first so the whole thread is loaded.
Try Google Takeout for bulk data. At takeout.google.com you can request your Google data, which may include Gemini Apps activity. Reports on what you get and how readable it is differ, so check the result before relying on it.

What Gemini does not give you

The built-in Docs export is per response, so a long back-and-forth means several exports. There is no built-in Markdown or JSON option that we could confirm. Gemini's own chat search is reported to match mainly titles, so finding the right chat to export can also take time.
