How to export a Grok chat to Markdown or PDF
We could not find an official per-conversation export for Grok on grok.com. These are the practical options.
Save a Grok conversation
- Copy a response. Use the copy icon under a Grok response and paste it into a Markdown file or notes app.
- Print to PDF. Open the chat on grok.com, press Ctrl+P (Cmd+P on Mac) and choose Save as PDF. Load the full chat first by scrolling to the top.
- Check xAI's help pages. Features change. Look at xAI's help pages for any export or share option before relying on copy and print.
- Mind the address. Make sure you are on grok.com when you do this; Grok is also available inside x.com, which behaves differently.
Limits
Copying and printing handle one chat at a time and do not give you JSON. X's account data archive is a different tool and, as far as we know, is not a per-conversation backup.
Where ThreadKeep helps
ThreadKeep supports grok.com. It exports the open chat as Markdown, PDF (through a clean print view), JSON or plain text with code and tables kept, and lets you keep Grok chats in folders with the rest of your AI chats.
Free covers up to 5 folders, 10 exports a month and unlimited search. Pro is $4.99 a month or $59 once and removes the folder and export limits.
ThreadKeep is not on the Chrome Web Store yet. Add to Chrome (coming soon). Until then, see the ThreadKeep overview.
